Medicare has changed its rules regarding patients recieving Medicare rebates for a TeleHealth appointment.
Patients will only receive a Telehealth Medicare rebate if they have seen the doctor for a face-to-face service in the last 12 months or have seen a doctor at the same practice for a face-to-face service during the same period.
If the patient is not eligible for the Telehealth Medicare rebate, there will be a private fee of $85.
Children aged under 12 months or those who are currently homeless are exempt.
General practice accreditation is a voluntary process, so not all practices undergo this independent on-site assessment regularly.

Appointments are now available here or on the HotDoc app.
